Active Adult Communities

Active Adult Communities are living arrangements for individuals who no longer want to downsize from their family home and have greater (and easier) access to activities and peers. Unlike assisted living facilities, active adult communities do not have any medical services available as part of their amenities model. The average resident’s age in these communities can range from 60-65 years old in some of the newer facilities to 75-80 years old or more in more established communities. This older population is now in need of additional service and care.

Active Adult Community residents who are in need of medical care currently accessing services through home health agencies or regional senior living facilities. But independently bringing these services directly into their apartments is not only very costly, but also has the effect of changing the demographics of the population and making it less attractive to younger and more active residents.

By using existing or adjacent land to develop complementary healthcare services, the community can offer their population a larger variety of living choices and greater access to the services they need. Some types of senior living that often have need after a comprehensive market analysis include memory care facilities, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, and CCRCs.

At Memory Care Management and Consulting, we see a great opportunity with active adult markets to integrate senior living into these communities. We utilize project specific development and turnkey approach that makes it easy for developments and operators add to the continuum of care, offering comprehensive development and management services that are both creative and flexible.
